October is the month of the rosary. Holy Spirit Parish, as it has done in the past, joins the largest network rosary rallies in the world in commemoration of our Lady’s Miracle of the Sun at Fatima that took place in October 1917. This year, under the event coordinator Ms. Marge Prunty, all students enrolled in the Faith Formation Program as well as their parents are expected to be present at this event on October 15, 2022 at 11:00 am. The rally will start at the church and procession follows outside by the statue of the Blessed Mother as people pray the rosary. The Confirmation class will lead the attendees in praying the first decade of the Luminous mystery, the Baptism of the Lord.
Aware that the rosary is a catechetical tool, our students in the Faith Formation Program understand that by praying the rosary they are learning the basics of the Christian faith. They learn about the life of Jesus, his passion, death, and resurrection. They also learn to pray the Apostles Creed, the Our Father, the Hail Mary and the Glory Be. They will recall what Pope Pius XI once said that “the rosary is a powerful weapon” to put the demons to flight and to keep oneself from sin as attested by many miraculous personal and historical testimonies. Most importantly, students recognize the spiritual motherhood of Mary. And so when they pray the rosary, it is talking to Mary like they are talking to their mother with love and humility drawing them closer to Jesus.

Conscientes de que el rosario es una herramienta de catequesis, nuestros estudiantes en el programa de formación en la fe entienden que al rezar el rosario están aprendiendo los conceptos básicos de la fe cristiana. Aprenden sobre la vida de Jesús, su pasión, muerte y resurrección. También aprenden a rezar el Credo de los Apóstoles, el Padre Nuestro, el Ave María y el Gloria. Recuerdan lo que el Papa Pío XI dijo una vez que “el rosario es un arma poderosa” para ahuyentar a los demonios y evitar el pecado, como lo atestiguan muchos testimonios personales e históricos que son milagrosos. Lo más importante es que los estudiantes reconozcan la maternidad espiritual de María para que cuando recen el rosario piensen que le están hablando a María como le estarian hablando a su madre con amor y humildad para que a su vez, Maria los acerque a Jesús.
