Congratulations!! Fr. Luis Osorio, Pastor Holy Spirit Catholic Church Installation: December10, 2022

Who was Luis Osorio before becoming a priest?
Luis Osorio, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Salvador Osorio of Pereira of Colombia, was born January 24, 1958. He earned a degree in political economics at the Universidad Libre de Pereira, Colombia. After graduation, he had nice jobs, including working in a government office and in a sugar refinery in Colombia.

It was during a trip to visit his sister in Statesville, North Carolina in 1988 when he met Fr. Joe Waters, pastor of St. Philip the Apostle Church, long known in the Charlotte Diocese for his work with Hispanics. Luis felt an instant connection with him and his path to the priesthood slowly began to unveil itself. Luis found his mentor and entered a 4 year period of prayer. The call he felt was strong enough to lead him to seminary life. He said it was a life lesson on letting God do the directing. He recalls a conversation with Fr. Frank ORourke and asked, Father, why did this happen to me so late? To which Father ORourke offered advice that stays with Osorio today: Its not your time. Its Gods time. God is a mystery, and he works in mysterious ways.

At age 42, Luis was ordained to the priesthood in June 2000 in the Diocese of Charlotte, N.C. Assigned to several various parishes in N.C., Fr. Luis moved to Florida in 2009 and worked as Parochial Vicar at St. Marys in Rockledge, Fl., Parochial Administrator in Centro Guadalupano, Wahneta, Fl., and most recently as Parochial Administrator here at Holy Spirit.

Join us in congratulating Fr. Luis Osorio as he is installed as our Holy Spirit Pastor! Fr. we wish you many years of health & happiness in your new permanent home!
