The administration of Holy Communion at Mass is an important liturgical ministry in our Church. You bring the sacrament of the Body and Blood of Christ to the people of God as well as a witness to faith by your actions and by the dignity and reverence with which you treat the Body of Christ.
*To participate in this ministry, you must be a fully initiated Catholic in good standing,
Meaning you have received the Sacraments of Baptism, Communion, Confirmation and participate faithfully in the celebration of the Eucharist.
*As a EMHC you live your life in such a way that your love for the Mass is evident by your regular active participation in it, as well as the Sacrament of Reconciliation. If married, you must be in a valid marriage.
Meaning your wedding took place before a properly authorized priest or deacon. You must commit to a diocesan led formation, procedural church introduction and ongoing training yearly with either a Saturday Refection, or attending retreats, missions, or Bible Studies.
*You are a sign of Christ’ s Presence and, therefore, you need to come to Mass having prepared and prayed. It is NOT IDEAL to have to ask people to serve at the last minute. This is why it is important that YOU get a substitute when you cannot serve. Of course, emergencies arise and are understandable.
