Sacrament of Confirmation

The preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation focuses on guiding every child toward a more intimate relationship with God and to eventually receive a special outpouring of the Holy Spirit, thus awakening in each child the sense of responsibility of a Christian life and the value of belonging to the church community. The growth in the Spirit is then a life long journey with Christ which began at Baptism.

It is in the Sacrament of Confirmation that the faithful is sealed with the Holy Spirit, strengthening the faithful in their Christian life journey. To receive the Sacrament, the candidates must be in Grade 9 or higher and must possess knowledge of the faith for which they must attend two (2) years of faith formation classes on Confirmation.

Note on parents of children with special needs:

Please see Mrs. Linda Dizon, Director of the Catechetical Ministry concerning any special needs which your children might have to prepare them accordingly.

Program student coverage and faith formation class schedules

For current year 2022-23, the Office of Catechetical Ministry offers sacramental preparation for children in Pre Kinder to Grade 12.  The program also caters to young adults of certain ages up to 18 and adults from 18 and older. Ninety-minute (90) classes are held once a week:

For children on Sundays:  Two sessions, one at 9:00 to 10:30 AM and another at 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM

For RCIA on Tuesdays:  6:00 to 7:30 PM (in Spanish and English)

For RCIC on Tuesdays:  6:00 to 7:30 PM (in English only)

Registration, annual fees, and other requirements

Registration begins in February of each year. The program starts in September.

Parents are required to (a) register their children for each year of attendance of the sacramental preparation and (b) pay the corresponding annual dues.

Families with children attending faith formation classes must be registered parishioners of Holy Spirit.  They are required to join their children in attending the Sunday mass before or after their class schedules. A student must complete 80% of class sessions for the year.  Students who fail to achieve the equivalent hours will need to make up the hours missed. For these reasons, parents are encouraged to make this program a priority for their children. Parents who drop off their children to class are invited to attend our faith enrichment session for parents while their children are in class.
