Dorothy's Corner

HOURS

Friday 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.

Dorothy's corner is located in the rear of the
school building on the first floor.

The inspiration for Dorothy's Corner came from a woman by the name of Dorothy Day. Dorothy was an American Journalist and embraced the service of the poor. She was shaken by the hopelessness and unemployment of the millions during the Depression. She dropped her ambitions of becoming a famous writer and spent the rest of her life serving the poor, in whose face she saw Jesus. She founded the New York Catholic Worker, which is a communal hospitality house run for the homeless and unemployed. There are now over 150 Catholic Worker houses across the country.

Holy Spirit parishioners have continued to generously donate to our Dorothy's Corner clothing pantry, which lives on in memory of Dorothy Day who passed away in 1980.

Under the auspices of Nick & Joan Ramirez, all are welcome to receive assistance of clothing, shoes, bedding, toys, books, etc., and are available at no cost. We serve our parish, our community and, in partnership with our Prison Ministry, newly released inmates. We are open Fridays from 5:00 - 7:00 pm. If special needs arise at other times, you may contact the Holy Spirit office and arrangements will be made to accommodate your needs.
